Used Bucket Trucks Are Better Than New Bucket Trucks

There is nothing worse than spending loads of money on a new piece of equipment and have it break. Used bucket trucks are prone to malfunction, but if they are well taken care of, they can be more reliable than a brand new bucket truck. Finding quality used equipment like aerial lift trucks can be tough, but it's made much easier by knowing how and where to look. I know this may sound crazy to you, let's look at the reasons why used utility trucks may be a better investment.

With new bucket trucks, if they are going to have a problem, it will happen within the first 30 thousand miles. Think about that for a minute. Things that are defective will show themselves within 30 thousand miles. That principle alone makes a used bucket truck (with relatively low miles, of course) a more solid decision... it has made it through the first 30k miles and everything is broken in and shown to be working well.

Fleet aerial lift trucks are the best kind of used aerial lift truck. Fleet trucks are required by law and by their insurance company to maintenance their utility trucks according to federal or manufacturer's standards. With regulated maintenance like that, you are guaranteed to be acquiring a solid piece of equipment. Ok, maybe a little overboard with guaranteed, but fleet trucks will give you the best odds at buying great running/working used bucket trucks.

Lastly, and most obviously, used cherry pickers come at a considerably cheaper price. You could end up paying 50% more for a similar lift truck that is brand new and you could be risking close to the same probability of having mechanical issues. If you want to shave that probability even more, consider buying a reconditioned used bucket truck. Reconditioned lift trucks are great because they are inspected and made sure to work well (be wary of a shady reconditioner, and only buy from reputable dealers). Reconditioned equipment will trade risk for price so, keep that in mind when shopping. Some reconditioned dealers will sell used bucket trucks that haven't been reconditioned. You could stand a chance to save money buy purchasing the non-reconditioned equipment and still have a lower probability of something breaking or not working correctly.

Good luck finding the best condition used utility truck for sale and saving a bundle of money vs. buying new. The idea is to spend the least amount of money and get the most amount of return from your used bucket trucks.
